Max Newill - Head Coach
Max Newill enters his eighth season as the Head Baseball Coach at Bridgewater-Raritan High School. This is Newill's thirteenth season as a part of the Panther Baseball Coaching Staff, having served as a varsity assistant in '03 and '04 and the freshman coach from '05 to '07.

In his first season, Newill led the Panthers to the 2008 NJSIAA North II Sectional Championship Game. As a result of his team's efforts, Newill was named the Courier-News' Coach of the Year and the Star-Ledger's Somerset County Coach of the Year. Newill's 2010 team won the NJSIAA North II Sectional Championship for the first time in school history, and Newill was once again named the Star-Ledger's Somerset County Coach of the Year.

Newill has an extensive baseball background as both a player and a coach. Newill was a pitcher and outfielder at Delran High School, playing under legendary coach Rich Bender. He earned all-county and
all-conference honors his senior year and was the winning pitcher in the 1994 South Jersey Group II Championship Game. Newill graduated with the school record in saves and is a member of the Delran High School Baseball Hall of Fame.

Newill matriculated to Baldwin-Wallace College where he was a four-year starter and two-year captain for the Yellow Jackets. While at B-W, Newill was a three time All-Ohio Athletic Conference player as well as a three time Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection. Newill was ranked nationally in ERA in both '96 and '98 and strikeouts per game in '98. Newill was the OAC pitcher of the week four times during his career and graduated with school records in wins, starts, and complete games. His 242 strikeouts (in 242 1/3 innings) rank third in school history. Newill was inducted into the Baldwin-Wallace Athletic Hall of Fame in the fall of 2010.

Following college, Newill played two seasons of professional baseball. Newill first played for the
Albany-Colonie Diamond Dogs of the Northern League in 1999. He returned to professional ball in 2004, pitching for the Northeast Aces in the Northeast League. Newill currently pitches for the Burlington Mets of the Rancocas Valley Semi-pro Baseball League.

Newill began his coaching career at Ohio University as a graduate assistant coach in 2000. He was Baseball Director for International Sports Camps in 2001 and 2002.

Newill is a member of the Business Education faculty at BRHS where he teaches AP Microeconomics. He earned a Bachelor's degree in business administration from Baldwin-Wallace College in 1998 and a Master's degree in sports administration from Ohio University in 2000.
